Doors Open: 7.30pm Show Starts at: 8.00pm
Dubbed ‘The First Lady of Celtic Music’, Moya Brennan found fame as the voice of Clannad, the most successful Celtic group in history.
Moya and the band rose to prominence with a pioneering approach to traditional music which has garnered them 15 million record sales worldwide and a string of awards, including a Grammy, BAFTA, Ivor Novello and Lifetime Achievement honour at the BBC Folk Awards. Their sound has since become the benchmark for the Celtic music genre, exemplified by sister Enya who left the band to pursue her own world conquering career.
Moya’s solo work has continued that success with eight albums, numerous film scores and collaborations with many great artists including The Chieftains, Robert Plant, Paul Brady, Shane MacGowan and Bono, who described Moya as possessing ‘one of the greatest voices the human ear has ever experienced.’
Her live show has developed into a visual, as well as sonic, spectacle with rhythm, atmosphere and vibrant harmony, featuring all the musicality and power of Clannad augmented by a heart-warming intimacy. Her effortless vocals and timeless music pay homage not only to her vibrant traditional Irish heritage but also her grasp of contemporary forms.
