Described by MOJO as 'a mouth-watering collaboration', Alasdair Roberts, Emily Portman, Lucy Farrell and Rachel Newton are four fine soloists sharing a mutual love of traditional songs from both sides of the English and Scottish borders, with playful, boundary-defying musicianship.

After the release of their second album, Wild Hog, the quartet were named winners of the blue riband BBC Folk Award for Best Group in 2017, following in the footsteps of bands like Bellowhead, Oysterband and Lau, while at the same ceremony Rachel Newton was also awarded Musician of the Year.

Since their critically acclaimed debut At Our Next Meeting, The Furrow Collective have been in demand as a touring band, gigging throughout Europe and performing BBC live sessions. Before last year’s award success, the group had already been nominated for three BBC Folk Awards, cementing their reputation as one of the most critically acclaimed acts in contemporary folk. With voices, guitar, harp, viola, concertina, saw and banjo, each member leads a song, moving with ease from jaunty stories of ailing horses, to poignant laments and sparsely adorned supernatural ballads, delighting audiences with their uniquely beguiling approach to traditional song.
